*The Roots is being honored in their hometown of Philadelphia with a mural in the city.
Officials made the announcement on Monday (11-07-11) that the homegrown hip hop group is going to be the subject of an official piece of artwork that will include a storefront art studio and arts education programs for students.
The city is asking for design proposals and interested applicants can apply at www.muralsarts.org. Planned for the hip shopping area South Street, the mural should be revealed by next summer.
