Frazier, the former heavyweight boxing champion, who in 1971 became the first fighter to defeat Muhammad Ali then lost two epic rematches including the legendary “Thrilla in Manila,” died Monday in Philadelphia from liver cancer. He was 67.
Frazier’s death was announced in a statement by his family, who asked to be able to grieve privately.
Frazier was diagnosed with cancer in late September, said his personal and business manager, Leslie Wolff.
