*Actress Penny Johnson Jerald received some good news this morning.
ABC announced today it has extended its episode order for “Castle,” which added Jerald this season as a tough police captain.
The Monday night procedural, starring Nathan Fillion as a mystery novelist and Stana Katic as a New York detective, will go up to 23 for the fourth season.
Jerald says that her good fortune in nabbing plum television roles has as much to do with good karma as it does her acting skills.
“I definitely believe that you reap what you sew, and I’ve been fortunate enough to be on some incredible television series where people come on as guest artists, and then they come on later as regulars. And I just thank God that I’ve been one of those people who welcomed them in with open arms and have been respectful of the fact that they are new, because right now that is happening for me. I’m the new kid on the block and everyone has been wonderful in embracing me and making me feel comfortable enough to just do my job.”
Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. on ABC. The crime drama returns with the second half of season 4 on Jan. 9.
In the audio below, Penny credits her family and her Christian faith as her biggest sources of inspiration and the reason behind her longevity in the business.
