Aretha Franklin performs to a SRO audience at the Ryman Auditorium on Oct. 19, 2011 in Nashville

*Aretha Franklin got into the holiday spirit by hosting a lavish Christmas party in her Detroit hometown for family and friends, reports the Detroit News.

The veteran singer had much to celebrate after overcoming a mystery illness in 2010 to return to the stage this year, and she thanked her loved ones for their support by hosting a glitzy event on Friday.

Franklin treated her guests to dinner at the Detroit Athletic Club, and the gathering included performances from Gwen & Charles Scales, her son Eddie Franklin, Duke Fakir and the Four Tops.

The Queen of Soul even took the mic herself at the end of the night to sing “Silent Night” with the Four Tops, according to the Detroit News.
