*If you missed it, Kim Wayans was the guest star in Monday’s (Feb. 22) episode of “Hit The Floor.”

The actress/comedian is the sister of Keenen Ivory, Damon, Sr., Marlon, Shawn and Nadia Wayans. She is best known for her numerous roles on the Fox sketch-comedy show “In Living Color” (1990–94).

Kim got a chance to showcase her dramatic skills in 2011 with a supporting role in “Pariah.” She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 2012 Black Reel Awards but lost to Octavia Spencer for “The Help.” Wayans has also appeared in an episode of the police procedural “Criminal Minds,” and the CBS legal drams “Reckless.”

Kim’s career spans over three decades, gifting fans with some memorable characters and one-liners. EUR/Electronic Urban Report chatted Wayans ahead of her “Hit The Floor” appearance – in which she plays a cop – and we asked how she approaches playing dramatic roles compared to comedic characters.

“My approach to playing this cop was really the same approach I have to playing anything – to get in the head of the character and into what motivates the character and into what the story provides about the character,” Kim explained.

Kim revealed the primary reason she accepted a role on the hit VH1 sports drama is because she’s a huge fan of series regular Kimberly Elise.

“I love Kimberly Elise. I think she’s an awesome talent,” Wayans gushed. “I’ve always been drawn to her as a person and what she stands for. And she’s a fellow naturalista like myself. So I just felt like we would really hit it off and that was a big draw for me to do the show, because I really wanted to work with Kim.”

The third season of “Hit The Floor” premiered in January, and Wayans, who is a fan of the show, says she applauds creator James LaRosa for “being such a forward thinker and progressive in his art.”

“Hit The Floor is a fun show. I like it cause it’s really diverse and exciting and you never know what’s going to happen from episode to episode. It reflects what America looks like, in terms of the racial diversity and ethnic diversity. I think that’s exciting .”

While Kim couldn’t reveal any juicy details about her appearance Monday night, she says she had an “awesome time” working with the cast and crew, and she’s hoping her cop character will make a return in a future episode.

“It’s written in a way that she could come back, so we’ll see. I had a great experience and the role was fun and I think audiences are going to have a good time when they see the episode. I’m excited.”

Hit The Floor” airs Mondays at 10/9c on VH1.
