*There is no mistaking the political leaning of MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, but the openly liberal host of “The Rachel Maddow Show” says her network as a whole, which many viewers accept as the Fox News for the left, cannot be written off in the same manner.

“I think it’s easy to caricature us as the opposite of Fox, but I don’t really think we live up to the caricature,” Maddow told TV critics in August. “I think that there is a lot more nuance, and I think that there is more unpredictability on our side.”

In the audio below, Maddow defends her network when a journalist suggests it’s just a given that GOP candidate Mitt Romney would be reported unfavorably by MSNBC and its president Phil Griffin, while treated with kid gloves on Fox News.
