*Last month, we reported that Cathy Hughes’ cable channel TV One was suing the BET Network, MTV and Music World Music for violating its exclusive rights to the Essence Music Festival.
Mathew Knowles’ Music World Music is listed in the lawsuit because his company brokered the deal for the Essence Music Festival broadcast with TV One. His company is being accused of re-issuing the content BET, MTV and BET’s Centric Network despite TV One’s four-year exclusivity agreement.
Now, EURweb has learned that TV One’s sister company, Radio One, has pulled all of Knowles’ Music World songs and artists from their radio stations nationwide.

“All Radio One personnel were told to pull all Music World artists out of rotation immediately and indefinitely! We were told that the mandate came straight from Ms. Hughes and that there would be ramifications for anyone playing or mentioning a Music World artist or song on air,” a Radio One employee, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, told us.
Meanwhile, several calls to Radio One’s Senior Vice President of Programming Content, Jay Stevens, for comment, were not returned.
Removing all of Music World’s songs and artists potentially creates a financial loss for Knowles, whose company primarily focuses on gospel music currently.
“Radio One owns at least 12 gospel stations across the country – that’s the majority. It’s hard for artists to sell CD’s without radio airplay! Right now Music World definitely isn’t getting any from Radio One,” the source explained.

Currently, Music World Gospel boasts a roster that includes Juanita Bynum, Trin-I-Tee 5:7, Brian Courtney Wilson, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Micah Stampley and BET’s “Sunday Best” winners Le’Andria Johnson and Amber Bullock. All of them have been removed from the Radio One programming system Selector, according to our source.
“Le’Andria Johnson’s song ‘Jesus” was in heavy rotation on Radio One stations one day and the next day she wasn’t getting any spins. New music by Trin-I-tee 5:7 and Micah Stampley, as well as recurring hits by Brian Courtney Wilson have been pulled as well,” the source added.
Even though EUR was told that Radio One has pulled music by Destiny’s Child and other previous songs released in conjunction with Music World; it has not directly impacted newer solo releases by Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams – all of whom had terminated their management and recording agreements with Music World prior to the lawsuit being filed.
EUR reached out to Mathew Knowles who did respond to our request for a comment on the predicament he finds himself and his company in. Not too surprisingly, he had quite a bit to say. We’ll have that exclusive interview for you tomorrow.
What goes around comes around and it looks like it’s really coming around for Mathew. He’s getting exactly what he deserves for running over Letoya, Latavia, Farrah and Kelly and Michelle for Beyonce and I’m glad B fired him. Since then and even right before she has become a more humble person.
If that was the case, then why didn’t Babyface and LA Reid get their comeuppance for bankrupting TLC and Toni Braxton? Also, why didn’t Clive Davis get his for ruining Phylis Hyman’s career. MJ said that Tommy Motolla was the Devil and we see how Sony did MJ and Mariah. Last time, I checked none of the girls from DC are bankrupt. Contrary to popular belief, LaToya and LeTavia weren’t kicked out Destiny’s Child with no warning. They were about to shoot a video that was crucial to the album and they wrote a letter, saying they wanted separate management. Mathew asked the record company and they said they didn’t think it was a good idea. What I find funny LeToya and LaTavia didn’t complain about a thing when the Knowles were paying for everything and the group was struggling. But as soon as they really got noticed, that’s when they started complaining. I still think it had to do with them not wanting to play their roles as backup singers. Before you say anything about why did they have to be backup singers. SWV, TLC, NSync, etc. basically all had lead singers. You didn’t see Lance Bass jumping or Joey Fatone lead singing on any of their songs. Now did you? SWV was even called Sister With a Voice because Coco was the only one that sung. If you listen to TLC, it was basically T-Boz that did all the lead singing. Yet people want to ride Beyonce and DC was more balanced than these groups or just as. People feeding into same old bullshit of light skin/dark skin and also having daddy issues. Wanted to jump all over Mathew and a 16-year old Beyonce, like a teenager got any control over that shit. Only thing she was trying to do was get her friends in a group with her to help give them a career in entertainment. To me, I always felt like she was the one that was betrayed, not the other way around. Btw, I always heard that when people met DC she and Michelle were always the most humble. People said that Kelly was the one with the more superior attitude. Don’t always believe the hype.
I forgot to add the letter that the letter that LaToya and LeTavia wrote asking for separate management and saying that they wouldn’t do anymore work under Mathew. It was to put the group in a difficult condition because they were about to shoot Bills, Bills, Bills after having had a very successful. Those chicks weren’t doing anything but trying to stop the forward progress of the group if they didn’t get their way. Farrah doing shit like missing flights and rehearsals. How she think she’s going to stay in a group. Again, she probably thought she could spring a solo career from any negativity she was able to create. Does anybody remember that LeToya and LaTavia had a group after DC. If Mathew was so in control, that wouldn’t even happen. My point is it’s plenty of people that have really abuse their power more than Mathew.

KendraOwens…your comment started out well…then it went from suga to shit.. Matthew is shady and he has been shady way before DC was formed. Sounds like you are on his payroll. You only got half of the story right regarding the two original members. And as the saying goes “it may not come out in the wash but it will surely come out in the rinse”. In the mean time we will all watch a his chickens come home to roost. Somebody should have told him that Cathy Hughs is not one to play with.
KendraOwens – Acutally SWV stands for Sisters With Voices (Sisters is plural) – Google it. Coco may have been the unofficial lead, but you always heard all three of the girls singing on the records.
