Drake as Barack Obama: It’s the Rapper’s Dream Role

drake & obama*Rapper Drake is letting it be known that he’s got the itch to play the Commander-in-Chief when the movie is made.

Well, we have no doubt that at some point a film on Barack Obama will be a Hollywood priority and the Toronto born rapper and actor is convinced he’s qualified to be the lead.

Here’s what he told reporters at the Sundance Film Festival about his dream:

“I hope somebody makes a movie about Obama’s life soon because I could play him. That’s the goal,” says Drake. “I watch all the addresses. Anytime I see him on TV, I don’t change the channel, I definitely pay attention and listen to the inflections of his voice. If you ask anyone who knows me, I’m pretty good at impressions.”

Before he became known for his rhyming skills, Drake was seen on Canadian TV playing Jimmy Brooks on “Degrassi: The Next Generation.” In fact, he keeps his foot in the film and TV world by creating scripts all the time he says.

“I’ve been reading scripts for a while. I want to do something great,” he says. “I want to do something for my culture: the younger people who are still in tune with everything going on. I’m actually writing with my friends right now.”
