Michelle Obama Now on Twitter; Sends First Tweet

*Our first lady has entered the social media age.

Sasha and Malia may not be able to start their own Facebook pages, but their mama joined Twitter today, with the introductory tweet:  ”We’re excited today to launch @michelleobama as a new way for you to connect with First Lady Michelle Obama and the President’s campaign.”

The second tweet tells us to look out for the “-mo” signature to differentiate the first lady’s messages from the campaign staff’s.

She gained more than 116,000 followers in the first five hours, but that’s a long way from one of the five her account is following: her husband, President Barack Obama, who has 11.8 million followers. Or, the White House, which has about 2.6 million.
