*This year marks the 20th anniversary of the trailblazing Pan African Film Festival (PAFF). The two-week-long event will kick off on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 with a star-studded Opening Night Gala and this year’s film line-up is better than the last.
Organizers selected a total of 170 films from 30 countries, including 106 feature length films and 64 short films.
Among this years features is Steve Harvey’s “Think Like a Man,” based on the radio hosts’ New York Times best-selling book. The film stars Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Meagan Good, Regina Hall, Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Terrence J, Jenifer Lewis Romany Malco, Gary Owen, Gabrielle Union and Chris Brown.
“Think Like a Man” will premiere on opening night.
Other films include: “Slavery By Another Name,” directed by Sam Pollard, a documentary that challenges audiences to reconsider when slavery really ended; “The Under Shepherd,” directed by Russ Parr, is a film about two young ministers climbing the ranks within the First Baptist Church, but their lives begin to take a turn when their friendship is strained along the way; and “We the Party,” directed by Mario Van Peebles, is Hip-Hop infused dramedy about the first generation of high schoolers in the age of Obama.
