*Headliners Tamyra Gray of “American Idol” and Darius McCrary, best known as the iconic Eddie Winslow on the TV comedy, “Family Matters” and Malcolm of the hit CBS daytime drama “Young and the Restless” are the stars of the Sylvester Stephens stage play “Our Time Has Come.”

According to Stephens: “‘Our Time Has Come’ is not just “a piece of artistic expression, it is  a peace of mind movement to entertain and educate audiences on the message of equality, evenhandedness and empowerment!”

The setting  is just before the 2008 presidential election and before Senator Barack Obama’s rousing speech at the Democratic National Convention.   In a dazzling display of political insight and masterful storytelling, Sylvester Stephens presents a stage play that tells audiences what has been wrong throughout America’s history, and what can be done to make things right in its future. “Our Time Has Come” is a story of a former slave’s prophecy that his descendants would one day rise above the manacles of slavery to the pinnacle of society!

The audience reflects through the eyes of Solomon Chambers, whose family was born in Saginaw, Michigan into a family that formerly lived in racist Mississippi.  Solomon eventually becomes an attorney, and when his uncle is murdered in Mississippi, he serves as a witness for the prosecution — and has his first real brush with racism.  Darius McCrary plays Solomon’s son.

Flash forward to 2007.  Affirmative Action and the Voting Rights Acts are now abolished and Solomon is called upon to try the most significant case of his career, and one of the most important cases in history when African-Americans charge the United States government with violating their constitutional rights    There is a surprising twist in the fate of Solomon Chambers.

American Idol veteran Tamyra Gray portrays Michelle, the wife of Solomon.  She is a great complement to the cast of this thought provoking production.  The play is set to premiere Saturday, February 18th 2012 at 7:30 p.m., and opens to the public February 19th through March 4th, 2012 at the 14th Street Playhouse, 173 14th Street NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30309.

The theme song for Our Time Has Come is produced by Jazze Pha, listen it here: http://tweetmysong.com/nqu365x
