April Weeden lovingly provides this statement of gratitude to the Black Stuntmen’s Association:
“Thank you so much for opening doors for us. It is because of the perseverance and diligence of the Blackmen’s Stuntmen Association that I have been able to thrive in an influential stunt career as an African American woman for over 20 years.”
Weeden is a trailblazer herself in delivering powerful stunts in over 300 feature films, commercials and videos. She has “doubled” for many leading African American actresses including Angela Bassett, Gabriel Union, Taraji P. Henson and Halle Berry, just to name a few. Her work also entails projects with the late legend Michael Jackson. Her career still continues to shine bright in Hollywood.
Last year, Weeden was the recipient of the mentorship award from the Diamond in the Raw Annual Stuntwomen’s Awards and an award for Christians in Hollywood from the Universal Church of Deliverance, for her dynamic acts of service on and off the big screen. She is currently spreading lots of joy with her Joy Foundation where she mentors over 100 women, men and children. April also actively participates in inspirational speaking engagements locally and nationally for schools and community organizations.
In addition, April is a proud mom of her 9 year old daughter, up and coming actress/stuntwoman, Kiera Washington. Kiera is currently a star in the movie “House Arrest”which was screened at the recent Pan African Film Festival.
