*New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is defending his decision to have flags lowered to half-staff Saturday for the late singer Whitney Houston amid criticism partly related to her history of substance abuse, reports EW.com.
Christie says he rejects the idea the New Jersey native “forfeited the good things that she did in her life” because of her substance abuse struggles.
The Republican governor said Wednesday disparaging emails and other messages have been coming into his office. He says critics are wrongly accusing him of treating Houston better than fallen soldiers.
He has ordered flags flown at half-staff for all 31 fallen New Jersey soldiers and every fallen police officer during his time in office.

He just got my vote for his next reelection
Maybe I’ll move from GA to NJ to do just that. Who woulda thunk it, a governor that cares?
I agree with his decision regarding this. But, it’ll take more than this for me to vote for a RETHUGLICAN (IJS).
When I first heard about this I said ot myself “watch some people start whining about the flags at half staff to honor Whitney” I am really surprised Gov Christie did this BUT I still do not care for him or any or the Repubs more than likely he had a ulterior motive for doing it anyway.
Well at least Christie is better on this than Democrats and Obama were in regards to Michael Jackson.
Sheeet. You don’t even want Obama open his mouth on Whitney. It’s going to be the same bullshyt he pulled when asked about MJ.
“Got to say som’n fo them yt folks. … ‘Well, she had her problems with drugs, but she was a good singer.’ … I don’t want to be catching no flak like Christie now is.”
