Diana Ross to Be Honored at Grammys

diana ross*After all these years of inspiring young artists, glamorous styles, and influencing lives, Diana Ross is finally going to be the recipient of the Grammy Award’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

The announcement was made Tuesday that she will be honored as part of The Supremes and as a solo artist.

“Through her role as the lead voice of America’s top singing group, a solo music career that resulted in a number of signature hits, and a film and Broadway career that proved she was a multidimensional talent, Ross became a beacon of hope and possibility not just for young African-American women, but for any woman aspiring to prove her worth in a professional world stacked against her,” the Recording Academy reports. “Ross and friends Florence Ballard, Barbara Martin and Mary Wilson formed the Supremes (originally the Primettes) in the Brewster housing projects in Detroit. The group didn’t emerge as stars immediately, and after their first few mid-chart singles, Martin left. But starting with “Where Did Our Love Go?” in 1964, the Supremes would ultimately chart 12 No. 1 pop singles with Ross.”

Over the years, the 67-year-old singer has been nominated 12 times, but has yet to receive the golden gramophone. But three of her songs have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

That’s what I think is so ironic about this award – she NEVER won a Grammy of her own as the lead of the Supremes or solo artist. Nonetheless, this is really just. Diana is a class act!

Ms Ross has been in the music biz for a long time now and she has not won at laeat one grammy??? and she is just now receiving a Lifetime Achievement grammy after all of her contributions to music, she is an Icon!! better late than never I guess. Congrats !!!

  3. Congratulations to Diana “The Boss” Ross! Lifetime Achievement Award, an honor well deserved.

  4. Honor well “EARNED”, not desereved. She doesn’t deserve anything, nobody does. Diana earned that award. Congratulations Diana!

    • earned, deserved…. what’s the difference? And what do you mean when you say no one deserves anything? I respectfully disagree with you on that one, but I stand by what I said earlier. If I’m not mistaken I believe Diana Ross will be receiving the grammy’s highest award, as far as I’m concern she EARNED and DESERVES it in my book. *wink*

      • platinum, it’s all good and there is no beef. I know you DID NOT say what’s the difference. I know you didn’t say that. What did I mean when I said no one deserves anything? I meant just that. NOBODY IN LIFE DESERVES ANYTHING! You earn things in life. You earn what you get. It’s that simple.

A very well deserved honor. I just hope that Diana Ross acknowledges fellow Supremes Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard. They deserve this recognition just as much as Ross.
