*It’s getting to be about that time for Gabrielle Union to think about motherhood, she told Essence.
She said in the past, being a mom was basically out of the question, but now is the time in her life to begin making that move.
“I was never someone who thought about having kids,” she says. “I mean, they’re great in theory, but I never imagined having one [myself]. Maybe over the next five years I could wrap my brain around becoming a mother and what that would mean in terms of sacrifice and dedication. I don’t do anything impulsively, so more toward the five years out than the one-year.”
Union is getting a little experience as she’s helping her man Dwyane Wade raise his two young children.
With motherhood on the membrane, Union confesses she understands life will change dramatically, and she’ll have to put some things aside to raise the babies.
“When you prioritize children over yourself, your brand and career, wants, needs, hurts, desires, you always win.”
If I am not mistaken she is 40 so seems like she would make ths decision sooner rather than later. Would be nice if she talked marriage in addition to a child but it’s a new day.

Yes she is in her 40′s, and these days it’s certainly not uncommon for some women to bear children in their 40s, or 50s. If that is their choice and risk to take, then I understand and respect their decision. I realize people in society will attempt to dictate the traditional manner, marriage first then children come thereafter. Would be nice to whom if she talked marriage in addition to a child? I agree it’s a new day and it reflects that people live their lives the way they elect to do so.

Gabby isn’t in her 40s, she will be 40 later this year in October.
If she does decide to have a child, she’ll have it when she’s mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually ready to take on the responsibility of being a mother. I commend her for thinking the decision of motherhood through instead of having a child because of the fabricated ‘biological clock.’ If more people actually did ‘family planning’ instead of having kids all willy nilly, things would be a lot better.
