*The National Enquirer editors obtained grainy images of Whitney Houston taken at the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, New Jersey, where a private wake for close friends and family was held on Friday.
The pictures, published today by the tabloid, show Houston wearing a purple dress with color-coordinated eye shadow and lip gloss, and jewelry worth a reported $500,000. [Scroll down to view.]
A source tells the publication, “Whitney looked lovely… like a queen.”
The platinum coffin also had the singer’s nickname, “Nippy,” embroidered in the silk lining between two treble clef symbols.
Houston was found dead in the bathtub of her Los Angeles hotel suite on Feb. 11. She was laid to rest beside her father’s grave at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield on Sunday.

Well its the National Enquirer so what do u expect. She looks beautiful and is resting heavenly in peace.

YOU KNOW IT HAS TO BE A FAMILY MEMBER. But to hear them tell it….BOBBY DID IT!

LOL…you know it! There’s a reason why we rarely see pics of (famous) white people in their coffins, and they have their funerals pretty doggone quick. If there’s a mortician reading this, please enlighten us. And I’m not trippin’ on white folk – we’re ALL the same at the core – but I’ve had it with the truth being hidden…the truth is where it’s at. It’s all the half-truths and lies that have caused so many of the problems in this world.

WOW! they are a true rag! This is sad that nothing is ever really private as long as there is a dollar to be made

Wow who was the stool pigeon to leak the picture? To bad The National Enquirer can’t be forced to reveal its source. Respect and dignity went out the window oh so long ago.

Are we going to also fault eur for posting it?
Not sure how eur is any different from the Enquirer on this.

Nobody in their right mind buries a loved one with jewelry on or their eye glasses!

Being that Whitney was buried the following day I doubt those jewels remained on the body after the family’s last viewing.

We rarely if ever see famous white people in their coffins. I think they are just fascinated about what we look like in ours

You think a white person took this picture? Is that the first thing that came to mind when you saw that photo?

Gayle K–I’ll try again– we rarely see published pics of famous white people in their coffins. I think they (the white viewing public) are just fascinated about what we look like in ours. USA Today didn’t hesistate to print photos of Corretta Scott King or James Brown in their caskets.

Maybe National Enquirer or other mags have shown pics of dead famous white people– I just can’t think of any at the moment. I don’t recall if they showed Anna Nicole Smith.

How in the world does the National Enquirer, not TIME, JET, EBONY, ESSENCE, but the National Enquirer get a photo of Whitney laid to rest? I guess everybody gonna blame Bobby for this too. We know it had to be a family member.

Bobby is writing a tell all book about Whitney. Wonder how this will affect his daughter or if he even cares because he will make money to support his drug habits. Well at least we know he can go on Wendy Williams to promote his book.

Gayle so instead of you sticking to the subject at hand, you decide to talk about a tell all that you never heard bobby say he was gonna write? I would think you knew bobby personally & he owed you some money the way you make everything about bobby brown when whitney is discussed. You need to get a freakin hobby. Get this through your head, bobby wasnt at the funeral home unless he broke in there so he didnt leak this photo. Stop believing everything you read. Just because you read on a website that bobby was shopping a tell all book doesnt make it true. You are really silly. Whitney didnt know you or cared to know you so stop being obsessive lol

What am I missing? What is the difference between The Enquirer publishing the picture and EUR reprinting it here?
I’m not sure it’s white people who are fascinated with how we look in our coffins. All I’ve seen is black folks taking pictures at the wakes I’ve been to.
I haven’t seen the confirmation that Bobby Brown is writing this book that’s being talked about. Where is that please?

So I guess no one will be doing any shopping and going through check out lines as long as The National Enquirer will be on full display with these photos. These pictures are all over the internet, of course people are going to open the story, read them and give their opinion, it won’t change anything.

Whoever did this is really low (lower than a toilet seat) – however, thank God she’s looking really beautiful and serene! I am happy she is with the God Lord. May she get the rest she deserves. I still think the culprit that did this should be prosecuted! This is a total invasion of privacy for the Huston Family. Inexcusable…period!!!!

I refuse to look at the picture. That is so insensitive and a gross invasion of privacy! National Enquirer will stop at nothing! Some lines shouldn’t be crossed. SMDH!

If it’s family then it’s not an invasion of privacy if they made it public. I don’t think they needed the money or would have had a private viewing if they were going to sell the photo to a smut rag… Close friend of the family….financially strapped?….maybe. Someone that works there that had access when no one else was around….more than likely….you don’t see anyone else in the room.
I don’t know why there seems to be an issue whether its a white or black person that did it. I’ve seen pictures of black and white people that are deceased. Not a photo I would ever want to take or even consider taking of anyone deceased…..and for the record Im white.
When I chose to look at the photo I thought it was going to be a fake photo. I have to say Whitney looks great…even in death. I can only hope I look

As in poor taste as it is, maybe it is best for Cissy to just let it go. It seems highly unlikely that much can be done about it at this point. I think it’s best not to belabor the point. It will not bring Whitney back.
