* “This story is very personal to Tyler,” said actor Brian White about the new Tyler Perry film Good Deeds, which arrives at theaters February 24, 2012. “He wants to get across to the audience the question, ‘Does success equal happiness?’.”
Good Deeds was written, directed and produced by Perry. It is an emotional, yet inspiring, dramatic love story presented by Lionsgate and TPS. In the film Tyler Perry shows another side to his very versatile acting skills.
Perry is Wesley Deeds a wealthy businessman head of an international company – thanks to the fortitude of his father’s hard work – and he runs it with his volatile brother Walter Deeds (Brian White). Walter wants to be head of the company and tries throughout the film to sabotage the moves of his older brother, which eventually ends in the fight of all brotherly fist-fights.
“My character always wanted to be his dad,” Brian pointed out. “The film shows negative consequences come with negative actions. We live in a society…young people are competing for things instead of looking within.”
Aside from dealing with his brother’s antics, Deeds also has an overbearing mother Wilimena (Phylicia Rashad) intent on marring him to his beautiful, yet restless fiancée Natalie (Gabrielle Union). He is assisted by his CFO (and consul) John who is caught between the brotherly fictions and sabotaged business deals.
Through the haze Wesley Deeds meets a down-on-her-luck employee, Lindsey (Thandie Newton), who he performs one good deed for. That good deed sparks something inside him that gives him the strength to make big changes in his life. Those changes allow him to finally be with a woman who really cares for ‘him’ and to do things that make ‘him’ happy – like ride a Harley.
Jamie Kennedy, Rebecca Romjin and Jordenn Thompson also star in the Lionsgate film Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds – which arrives in theaters February 24, 2012. For more information on the new Tyler Perry project, Good Deeds, log onto www.GoodDeedsMovie.com or www.TylerPerry.com/movies/good_deeds.
