*El DeBarge was arrested for drug possession in Los Angeles on Tuesday, and authorities reportedly suspect that he was trying to sell them as well, reports TMZ.

At 2 p.m., police officers in Encino, CA observed him participating in what appeared to be a drug deal with another man near the 101 Freeway, according to TMZ.
DeBarge was arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to sell. It’s the 3rd time El has been arrested for drug possession since 2001.
He was taken to a nearby jail where he was booked and released on $30k bail. El is due back in court next month.
El’s brother James is currently serving time behind bars after being arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and drug charges.

Oh No not again!!! El and his brothers cannot seem to conquer those demons that have haunted the family for years now. like huey says cocaine is a monster drug. I hate ot hear this because DeBarge was such a talented family and according to the Unsung episode they were on the verge of superstardom. I wish him and his brother the best.
This just show how screwed up this country’s laws are. A man who is only suspected of selling a drug less harmful than alcohol, have the book thrown at him with bail set at $30K. While at the same time, we are still not able to arrest a killer, who first tortured then kill his young victim, despite a mountain of evidence.

”According to official D.A. documents, the case was rejected due to insufficient evidence.
After searching them and coming up with nothing, police say they searched the surrounding area and found a baggie of rock cocaine hidden under a nearby car.”
Doesn’t sound so plain and simple to me.

”Alcohol is the most dangerous drug by a considerable margin, … according to an authoritative study.
It examines nine categories of harm that drugs can do to the individual “from death to damage to mental functioning and loss of relationships” and seven types of harm to others. The maximum possible harm score was 100 and the minimum zero.
Overall, alcohol scored 72 – against 55 for heroin and 54 for crack.
For overall harm, the other drugs examined ranked as follows: crystal meth (33), cocaine (27), tobacco (26), amphetamine/speed (23), cannabis (20), GHB (18), benzodiazepines (15), ketamine (15), methadone (13), butane (10), qat (9), ecstasy (9), anabolic steroids (9), LSD (7), buprenorphine (6) and magic mushrooms (5).”
That’s what the experts say.
Actually, from a lay man point of view, it’s a no brainer. Alcohol leads to way more deaths than cocaine.
But if you want to continue believing that alcohol is less harmful than cocaine, knock yourself out.
This is so sad. I really thought he was getting it together @Reds you are so right about the law in this country. he is alleged to have attempted to sell drugs and be in possesion of drugs while the racist pig in Florida kills a young man and he is sitting at home untouchable evidently. WOW!!!!

Man, this is so sad, especially since he released his latest album: Second Chance. The album was amazing and the songs truly reflective about his demons! Man, get it together. Have you not seen/witness what happened on February 11th!!!

Wow, I was truly rooting in his corner to get away from that drug scenario. El is still my boy though. Too talented to continue down this road. That current CD was the bomb.
he will forever be an addict. he has to fight his demons. this is very sad to hear because we just lost a icon last month partly due to drug abuse. all we can do is pray he gets the help he needs to overcome his demon of drugs. the whole family is full of addicts and its sad because if they stayed together their family would be up there with the Jackson’s as one of the best but they couldn’t leave it alone.
and yes i agree this country is ass backwards arresting him but letting a coward go for killing a unarmed teenager who all he was doing was walking home with skittles in his hand is crazy.
Time to quit making excuses for this guy now. I’m sorry, but if he can’t stay focused on his music after he’s been blessed on several occasions with new opportunities, I say it’s time people show him a little tough love. I mean this is just stupid now!
