kerry washington*Kerry Washington has been busy lately working on a film with  Eddie Murphy.

She’s been on the scene for almost 20 years and worked with all kinds of actors and comedians, but finally she makes history in her own right co-staring with one of contemporary comedy’s pioneering comics.

In an interview with, she shared her experiences with Murphy and discussed her role in upcoming film, “A Thousand Words.”

“You know what’s funny? I feel like I’ve worked with so many of the men who’ve looked up to Eddie and have gotten in the business because of Eddie,” she said. “Like Chris Rock, The Wayans Brothers, Jamie Foxx. So it was like finally going to the source and working with the beginnings of it all.”

Murphy plays the role of a fast talking literary agent who is forced to find different ways to communicate because he’s only given 1000 words. Washington plays his wife, Caroline McCall.

“What’s interesting is that Eddie takes comedy very seriously,” says Washington. “But he’s incredibly focused. And he is still really so much fun.”

In the meantime, catch Washington on the small screen as Olivia Pope in the newest drama, “Scandal.” The new ABC series produced by Shonda Rhimes, is based on the life of popular PR manager Judy Smith.

“Shonda is such a great writer. She understands the humanity of people, the way we think and relate to each other,” says Washington about the series. ‘Scandal’ is a great show. If you love politics, scandal and relationships you’ll love this show.”

“A Thousand Words” opens in theaters March 9.

“Scandal” premieres April 5 on ABC.
