Paula Deen Makes TV Return with New Evine Live Show

paula-deen *Anyone still thinking that Paula Deen won’t be back regularly on TV might want to double-check that.

The New York Post reports the embattled former Food Network fixture has indeed returned to the small screen with her own show on Evine Live. The network, formerly known as ShopHQ, will follow up “Paula Deen’s Kitchen” with a three-hour midweek premiere. Additional live segments will air on Evine once every six-to-eight weeks.

Deen’s TV return comes after a 22-month absence following her admission of using the N-word in a deposition taken in relation to a 2012 lawsuit filed by a former employee. In the suit, the employee accused Deen and her brother sexual harassment and racially insensitive language.

Despite her confession of using the N-word, a judge ultimately dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice in August 2013, The Post noted. As a result of the scandal, Food Network severed its 14-year relationship with Deen, who also lost millions in endorsement contracts and publishing deals.

While many wrote Deen off, Evine CEO Mark Bozek believes in second chances regarding the celebrity chef.

“Everybody makes mistakes,” Bozek said during a recent Bloomberg TV interview while acknowledging Deen’s “huge fan base” and voicing that she “has a good soul.”
