*Robert De Niro’s joke about race and politics has not gone down well in the Obama camp, prompting Michelle Obama’s spokesperson to brand his humor as “inappropriate.”

On Monday night (March 19), De Niro opened a New York fundraising event, featuring Michelle Obama and as part of his speech, he listed the names of the women married to the Republican presidential candidates. After naming “Callista Gingrich. Karen Santorum. Ann Romney,” De Niro quipped “Now do you really think our country is ready for a white first lady?”

According to USA Today, the assembled crowd “roared in approval,” but his remarks have not been so well received in other quarters.
Newt Gingrich was quick to complain and on Tuesday, called for President Obama to apologize on De Niro’s behalf, saying “What De Niro said last night was inexcusable and the president should apologize for him. It was at an Obama fundraiser, it is exactly wrong.”
De Niro himself has apologized for the off-hand remark, saying “My remarks, although spoken with satirical jest, were not meant to offend or embarrass anyone – especially the first lady.”
This old bastard may love black women, but I am sure a lot of his ” New York tendencies” are there! He was ” hell aware” his statement was inappropriate and crude! Isn’t he married to a sister? I just looked it up on Wikipedia, Grace should this fool on blast and make him offer a big contribution to the Obama campaign!

Maybe I’m the only one, but I’ve seen his quote many times and I still don’t see what was offensive about what he said. Not even a little bit. I honestly don’t get it.
I am not sure what the problem is????? The joke was supposed to be we have had al least 43 white women in the white house! Well we have do we really need another one Hell to the No ? I’m with Robert and yes he is married to a sista and was at a fund raiser for Obama! I am really angry that the White House issued a statement apologizing for what he said.They never apologize for all the crap that the repugnuts say about the President.
