Oprah’s OWN Dumps Rosie

rosie o'donnell*It’s all over for Rosie O’Donnell and Oprah Winfrey’s OWN. “The Rosie Show” is being ditched by the network five months after it initially aired.

The show premiered in October to about 500,000 viewers but lost about half that audience within days of its debut.

To no avail producers tried changing the show’s format. It went from taping before a studio audience to a one-on-one interview setting with celebrities such as Kathy Griffin, Chelsea Handler and former Illinois first lady Patti Blagojevich.

In a statement released by OWN, Winfrey thanked O’Donnell. She called O’Donnell “an incredible partner” who worked to put on the best show “every single day.”

O’Donnell also was quoted as saying she loved working with Winfrey and in Chicago and “wished” the show had better ratings.

March 30 is date of the show’s final episode.

None of Oprah’s shows are really doing great. She chose her path and continued all the way along it. Now she’s seeing where that path has taken her. I’m not a fan of hers and while I did watch and enjoy the life class series, I am not inclined to watch her network otherwise and have not since.

I think the cancellation of Rosie’s show had more to do with her not wanting to be in Chicago and Oprah wanting to force her to remain in that studio. That studio space is going to waste otherwise. Now that Rosie’s out, I wonder how Oprah thinks she’s going to fill it. Oprah has some nerve. She’s relocated herself permanently to Cali but, wants to force someone to work out of Chicago when she no longer wishes to do it. Not cool!

  5. I’m a bit surprised that Rosie didn’t do better on OWN. She was such a hit on the View, and I still don’t know why she left, even when they were offering her a three year $30M contract. Some say it was to avoid getting into fights with that Hasselbeck bytch. Others say it was Barbara Walters refusal to defend her against that racists piece of garbage Donald Trump. But I would love to see her in a setting like the View again, calling out right wing politicians and those who support their agenda. The question, in he era of Obama, a man committed to kissing up to Republicans and their radical war waging agenda, would she still be true to the cause? Or would she allow the Obama apologists to punk her out?
