*Bill O’Reilly featured Trayvon Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, Thursday night on his Fox News program to discuss the Wednesday arrest of George Zimmerman, the man who shot and killed her teenage son.
O’Reilly, who has criticized the media for “rushing to judgment” about Martin’s case, told Fulton that he was sorry for her loss.
“I can’t imagine the pain you go through,” he said. “So I think all Americans are feeling your pain. And we all want justice in the case…From the beginning, we’ve just called for calm. Let the system work. Let’s not convict Zimmerman on television. Let’s not make these wild charges.”
MSNBC’s Al Sharpton has been a vocal proponent for justice in the killing of Martin, and has organized rallies with the family in Florida through his action network. O’Reilly said that he has called for MSNBC host Al Sharpton to apologize for some of the things he has said. “Was I wrong to say that?” O’Reilly asked Fulton.
Fulton said that Sharpton “also promotes peace,” and that they called for peaceful protests and peaceful demonstrations in their call for justice. “We’ve never asked for anyone to do anything out of the ordinary,” she said. O’Reilly called Fulton, Martin’s father and their lawyer “magnificent,” but said that others around the country have “whipped up emotion.” O’Reilly again said that Sharpton should apologize.
“You want me to comment on that? I don’t know everything that’s behind it. I haven’t been watching a lot of the news. And I haven’t been watching what everyone was saying. So I’m not sure what response you want,” Fulton said.
Fulton’s lawyer Benjamin Crump jumped in and said that O’Reilly and Sharpton should discuss that topic. He added that the demonstrations and protests were necessary to ensure that Zimmerman was arrested.
O’Reilly said that his beef was not with anything Fulton or her family has done, it was only with “convicting Zimmerman on TV.” Crump said that Fulton really just wanted to see Zimmerman have his day in court.
“We’re all Americans here. No one wants a 17-year-old son shot down on the street … Mr. Zimmerman doesn’t want to see his son’s life ruined because of this. This is a tragedy all the way around. And we have to handle it with the utmost respect,” O’Reilly said.
I have no idea why they went on their in the first place.

I agree WHY??? did they go on Bill’s show of all people??? Bill O’ Reily is biased and like another poster said his is not a news show anyway. Bill could not give a good hot cocoa about what happened to Trayvon Martin and none of the journalists on Fox News give a crap, all the more reason why I have not watched Fox News in years and do not ever plan to again. PS> I know the Martin Family is still in shock and grievin but I think it is time to bow out of being in front of the cameras for a while until the trail starts, before people start saying they are over exposing themselves. He started complaining about Sharpton and how he should apologize “for some of the things he said.”
But what exactly? He can’t say.
Crump gave the best answer. “I think you and Rev. Sharpton should discuss that.”
But we all know O’Reilley would never dare face Al.
O’Reilley complained about the demonstrations whipping up emotions, and when Crump said that if it wasn’t for the demonstrations, he wouldn’t have been arrested, O’Reilly was like “do you really believe that.”
But after Crump pointed out that after 27 days they were still saying he wasn’t going to be arrested, O’Reilley was like, “I would go public too.”
They had O’Reilley running around in circles and revealed him to be the hypocrite he is.
i am sure this was her lawyer’s idea to go on the show.
I’m tired of the black people police out there. So Black Obama has to distance himself from his original pastor and condemn his remarks…I forget what the term was when Obama had to do this for a number of relations (friends, acquaintances, and otherwise)…Then it was, are you voting for Barack Obama because he’s black? You sought to discredit his character and cause him financial distress based on an emotional ploy about such an artist pedaling Pepsi to the children of your constituents and audience. Conservatives ONLY use emotion for their platforms, as NONE of their stances on issues is ACTUALLY BASED IN FACT, MUCH LESS TRUTH. GTFOHWDBS.
So let me get this straight, (time stamp 1:40) 33% Caucasian believe Zimmerman didn’t do it and 90% of Black Americans feel that he did do it”…doesn’t that mean that 67% of Caucasians feel that he did do it?
This wasn’t a bad interview. It was O’Reilly being himself but mom’s didn’t give him much to work with.

Trayvon has to be smiling from Heaven at his parents. They refused to let him die in vain. They have been class acts all the way and their refusal to stoop in the slop with pigs like O’Reilly is the reason this case remained in the mainstream. And while I am not a Sharpton fan (more on this in a bit), I still don’t know what O’Reilly thinks he should apologize for? Did he say something untrue or something?
Let me add this. Seems like many, maybe even most, are attempting to rewrite history here, but let me caution agains that with the FACTS. This story gained steam through SOCIAL MEDIA, BEFORE AL SHARPTON GOT HIS GREEDY, GREASY HANDS ON IT. He jumped on the bandwagon once it gained steam and devoted his national platform to it, but those of us who pay attention know he IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS CASE BEING BROUGHT AGAINST ZIMMERMAN. Trayvon’s parents, Facebookers, twitter followers, etc. who refused to let the Sanford PD bury this story are responsible for the case in its current state. Sharpton’s national platform helped, but this notion (the one he wants folks to believe) that were it not for him this case would not be a national story, is B.S. and those of us who were paying attention know this!
You guys are missing the point ,what Bill is basically saying is that the media should not be trying Zimmerman on tv because it plays to peoples emotions. So lets say Zimmerman is found innocent due to the stand your ground law in Florida, allot of people are going to get angry and most likely start to riot. So people like sharpton who have their own tv shows shouldn’t be rallying up peoples emotions on national television.
Oh and everyone who says bill should have sharpton on his show , Bill has said countless amounts of times we tryd to get a hold of sharpton but he does not want to come on the show.

Name one high profile case where the media did not have analysts coming in and discussing the evidence from the crime was committed, all the way through charges and the trial?
Did they not do that with OJ, Casey Anthony, Rodney King …

I am not concerned with Zimmerman being acquitted because of “Stand Your Ground.” The people who WROTE that law (white Republicans, no less) have already said that it does NOT apply in this case.
I never thought I would see the day when I would defend Al Sharpton, but he IS an activist.
