Brian 'Desperate' McKnight Makes X-Rated Song; Surprised at Negative Reaction (Video)

Brian McKnight in the studio explaining how he came to record a song about how the P***y works.

*We’ve never doubted Brian McKnight had good sense … until now.

Dude must be super desperate for a hit because he went and recorded a song that’s raising eyebrows because of its explicitness.

If you haven’t heard it, he previewed it in a viral video posted on Monday. In the vid, McKnight in the recording studio, offering a taste of a new “adult mixtape.” The song he previews is called “If You’re Ready To Learn.”

In the clip (watch it below), McKnight plays both a stripped-down and produced version of “If You’re Ready To Learn,” which operates in the same soulful style as his standard fare but contains choice lines like, “Let me show you your your p—y works/Since you didn’t bring it to me first.”

“Most people only want to hear me do one kind of song,” McKnight says in the video as he intros the song, “but there’s been lots of conversations I’ve had with men, lots of conversations I’ve had with women, just about other ‘sexual type things’ that I’d like to tackle.”

As you can imaging, by late Monday night, “Brian McKnight” was trending worldwide on Twitter, but by early Tuesday morning, apparently due to negative backlash, McKnight removed the viral clip.

“okay im taking it down and ill never do it again im putting up a safe song jeez no sense of humor but i trended for a little while,” he Tweeted. Later, he added, “It’s funny how we listen and let our kids listen to songs about killing people and selling drugs and calling women bitches … I wrote this song crude as it may be about satisfying all women and look what happened.”

Yeah, look what happened. Duh.

Remember at the top when we asked if McKnight was desperate for a hit? Well, according to Nielsen Soundscan, his most recent album, has only sold 47,000 copies since its July 2011 release, compared to 2.4 million copies sold of 1999′s “Back at One.”

  3. babycakes says:

I would of thought Mr McKnight is above this sort of cheap attempt at scoring a hit track leave that to the Trey Songz’s of the msuic biz. who cnnot sing taht well.

He couldn’t show me anything with those chicken thighs!

  7. Brian has been on a different kinda page for a bit. Don’t know what’s going on but this is not working for his fanbase.

  8. Say it ain’t so Brian……. say it ain’t so!

Okay, It sounds great to me, Im one of the ones that only want to hear the one kind, old school style that Brian sings so wonderfully. Im a little on the fence with the Pu*** word but hey its no worse than the words that the hip hop, rap singers be throwing out there calling it music. As a matter of fact when I heard Brian singing it, It reminded me of Jamie Foxx and how he can take a nursery song and make it sound so good and sexy. Nobody jumped all over Jamie for doing that in fact they loved it. Can’t remember which DVD that comedy act was on but Im sure its google-able. It also reminds me of Jamie when he sang on Adina Howards song..”TShirt & my panties” on. @ Brian Im still a fan no matter what you sing. :-)

Here’s the problem for me… If our OLD SKOOL don’t maintain a standard then what’s left? The thought of me buying a Trey Songz cd makes me want to stab myself in the head with sharp scissors. Really… Man, there are hardly any good male crooners left in the industry and now Brian McKnight wants to pull this BS. I’m done! *rolls eyes and walks away*

  11. Gurlfrand says:

Too bad, Brian – used to really like you. Maybe you should team up with Two Live Crew – they also desperate for a comeback……

  12. platinum says:

Maybe if Brian was more suggestive and less explicit it may have worked, I don’t know. This is not the Brian McKnight we are use to hearing, what may work for others may not work for some… I”m just sayin’ .

Teddy Pendergrass, Marvin Gaye and some of the other crooners dance around the foreplay and it worked because we knew what they meant, it wasn’t like bam it your face like that. I guess Brian knows now where he stands with his fans…(shrugs)

  13. I don’t think anyone loves Brian McKnight more than I do, but I have to agree with platinum. Marvin Gaye, Teddy P., Donnie Hathaway and several others only “hinted” at the suggestion of sex. They gave you something to look forward to. Too many artists have become sexual and downright disrespectful to the ladies and the songs just aren’t what they used to be. Brian, stick to what you DO best – be the smooth and talented crooner that you are.

  14. Brian, don’t degrade yourself like this for a wanabe hit record, just continue to make the beautiful music you’ve always made.

  15. Cade Foster says:

Sitting here shaking my head…What the hell is he thinking??? is he that desperate to have something he feels is a hit?? This illustrates a serious problem with today’s artist….lack of real songwriters!!! The ability to write meaningful lyrics is lacking. Brian, go find a real songwriter because obviously if “let me show you how the p@** works is your idea of meaningful lyrics, then you have problems!!!

I’ve been through with Brian McKnight ever since he was on Tom Joyners show a long time ago and he said he didn’t vote. Then he proceeded to say he was still invited to the White House and he was still going to make a lot of money whether he voted or not. Then Tom Joyner let him know that even though he performed at the White House they really didn’t care about him because they didn’t even say his name correct so what does that tell you?
