*Music legend and “Godfather of Go Go,” Chuck Brown has been hospitalized.
The 75-year-old performer was taken to a Washington, DC area hospital for “joint pain and inflammation that has prevented him from performing.”
He was scheduled to go on stage Saturday at the Howard Theater in DC, but the appearance has been postponed until June.
On the musician’s Facebook page was posted the news and a request for prayers.
“The Brown family wants to extend their thanks and deepest appreciation to everyone for their concern, prayers and best wishes for Chuck Brown during his hospitalization. They ask for your continued prayers.
Brown also canceled a show in early March due to health problems as well, explaining on Facebook that, “I’m under the weather and doctor says I need a couple days rest.”
We wish Mr. Brown well.
Get well soon Chuck! I’m a DC native and love Go-Go music and I know he doesn’t want to, but I think it’s about time he retires.
Me too! Saw him not long ago at Takoma Statiion, still puts on a “bomb” show. Though he uses a lot of others in his set as fillers cause he has slowed down a lot. Love him, and hope he recovers well.
