*Comedian J.B. Smoove is headed to Smurf Village.
The actors, best known for his work in HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” will join Brendan Gleeson and Christina Ricci as newcomers in the sequel to “The Smurfs.”
Smoove will voice the new character, Hackus, who is described as “naughty,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Gleeson joins the cast as Patrick Winslow’s stepfather Victor Doyle.
Last year’s CG/live-action hybrid, directed by Raja Gosnell, grossed $564 million worldwide. Gosnell will return to helm the second film.
Cast members that are returning for the sequel include Harris, Mays, Sofia Vergara, Hank Azaria, Katy Perry, Jonathan Winters, Alan Cumming, Fred Armisen, George Lopez, Anton Yelchin and John Oliver.
Smoove is currently starring in the NBC series “Bent.”
