*Friday’s testimonies took the Hudson family murder case in a whole different direction when William Balfour’s ex girlfriend said he admitted to the killings to her.

Shonta Cathey told the jury on the day Jennifer Hudson’s three family members were murdered, Balfour showed up at her home at 3 in the afternoon and told her, “Anybody asked, he was there at ten.”

He took it further and told her “They got shot … Her mother and her brother. He said the brother rushed him, and he shot him, and the mother came downstairs and he shot her.”

Cathey told the court her former lover said Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew was outside at the time.

Jennifer was seen in the court shedding tears.

The ex then said when police arrived, she lied for the man she loved because she didn’t want him to get in trouble.

“I was in love with him and I didn’t want him to get in any trouble,” she testified.

Other testimonies pointed to Balfour as the culprit.

so u let him drive away with a 7 year old after he told he just killed these people? ok…..cause u were in love?

  4. Thought by now criminals would know that you have to turn off your cell phone when committing a crime.

They were able to place him within a 1 mile radius of the scene of the crime, using his cell phone records. That shattered her claim of being an alibi and probably what caused her to cough.

But I still can’t see him confessing it to her. There may be some coercion going on here. Maybe the prosecutors threatened to charge her as an accessory if she didn’t dish more dirt on him. But if the defense can prove that her statements were coerced, then he still could beat it. Being close to a crime scene and lying about it doesn’t necessarily mean that you did it.

I don’t approve of coercion, but if they want to beat a confession out of him, I’m all for it.
