Nick Cannon attends the NBCUniversal summer press day held at The Langham Huntington Hotel and Spa on April 18, 2012 in Pasadena
*Nick Cannon has had to overhaul his entire diet following his recent health scare.
The “America’s Got Talent” host was hospitalized with kidney failure and blood clots on his lungs before being diagnosed with autoimmune disease lupus nephritis earlier this year.
Since choosing healthier foods, he said: ”I feel better than I’ve ever been. I’m in the best shape that I’ve ever been in. Since this whole thing has happened, I haven’t had any salt, red meat, fast food. [I've only had] chicken and fish. I feel so great. I’m juicing a lot.”
As previously reported, the 31-year-old star and wife Mariah Carey will celebrate their twins Moroccan and Monroe’s first birthday on April 30, and are planning to head overseas as a family.
”It’s amazing. It goes by so fast,” he said. “We’re going away. We’re taking a break. It’s going to be exciting. We’re doing something special and something unique.”
But with their increasing age comes increasing mobility, much to Nick’s terror. He explained to People Magazine: ”They’re trying to walk and I’m nervous because they’re at that age when anything can happen. My son has this thing where he loves banging his head and crushing stuff. Something new is happening every day.”

Good for you Nick. I hope you don’t backslide and stick with it.
Nick, sounds like a really proud father. I’m truly happy for he and Mariah.
“I haven’t had any salt, red meat, fast food.”
I think a lot of these people and whoever is giving them nutritional advice doesn’t really have a clue.
Red meat is a rich source for iron and other minerals, such as zinc and phosphorus. It’s also one of the richest source for the powerful antioxidant, alpha lipoic acid. Red meat is also associated with cardiovascular disease, but so too is chicken, even though to a lesser extent.
So are you going to stop eating red meat, but gorge on chicken?
And when he says he hasn’t had any salt, I’m pretty sure he means using the shaker. But what about processed food? That’s where you find most salts.
I try to avoid as much processed food as possible by cooking and taking my lunch to work. I also try to balance out the meat with enough vegetables. But on Fridays, I’m out looking for a succulent burger form one of the fast food joints. I may also stop by a Subway to get a 9 grain wheat sandwich.
It’s all about taking things in moderation.
Human beings evolved eating a wide variety of foods, including red meat, which was vital for our evolving brain. Why try to go against nature? You will never win.
I couldn’t agree with you more. GIving up Red meat, fast food and salt. MODERATION, MODERATION, MODERATION. And like you said unless he’s talking about the salt shaker, he is eating salt if he eats any processed foods and I’m sure at one time or another he does, it’s just life. I’m not a fast food eater either, but every once in a while a good juicy burger is exactly what my body is asking for and I give in, lol.
