*Ruben Studdard is at the center of a frightening reality.
Now nearly 400 pounds, the big (velvet) teddy bear of a guy is now the center of his family’s worry since his health is at risk because of his recent weight gain.
Sources told the National Enquirer that his family is afraid death may come knocking at his door a lot sooner than expected.
“Now his loved ones fear he will die tragically young,” says a source. “He agrees he needs to get help, and everyone is praying he’ll succeed.”
He previously lost 60 pounds and was off to a great start, but quickly after his divorce came up and other court battles involving the marriage, his weight flared back up and now it’s in a worse place.
Studdard made an appearance on Atlanta’s “Good Day Atlanta (Fox)” last week but did not discuss his alleged struggle.
“It’s just a great opportunity to have an outlet to express yourself musically,” Studdard told Good Day Atlanta. “Just to have the ability to have a ninth or tenth single and five albums is a blessing for me.”

Get help please
His wife dodged a bullet.
I remember the same concerned was mentioned about Gabourey “Gabby” Sidibe, everybody was saying that she was “sweet”, while ignoring the fact that she’s FAT. The black community normally celebrate being “big”.
What has happened with Ruben is all to common for those who struggle with weight issues; I know because I’ve been there personally. Everything can be going great in your life, the weight finally is coming off at a steady rate and then BOOM – tragedy hits and you fall back on their old eating habits to help them cope. The end result is almost weight gain beyond where you started which can be a really devastating blow to that person’s mental state. It is my prayer that he recognizes that he needs psychological HELP as well a good nutritionist and a comprehensive exercise program (possibly personal trainer). I think it’s important for those who choose to indulge in finger pointing to know that Ruben’s battles are well beyond “lack of discipline or self control,” Mr. Studdard is clearly ADDICTED to food like a junky to crack cocainse and there’s scientific proof now to support that. Be encouraged, Big Ru, you still got a lot of life and living ahead of you if you choose. Godspeed!
Oh this is coming from the National Enquirer and not Ruben….NEXT!
I know ‘ol boy doesn’t have a lot of money but, he needs to get a physical, a nutritionist, some couch time at a retreat to find himself and a gym membership . . . . . .he could get a free one and both get publicity win-win . . . or get weight watchers to dump that ignorant barkley, Ru, could sing (maybe a duet with Jennifer) about his/their weight loss and make some stacks too. hey, I’m down.
