*The hatred of “Basketball Wives” has bubbled over to all spectrums of the social media world.
Star Jones, one of the most drama prone celebrities known to reality television, is protesting the over-the-top dramality show, “Basketball Wives.”
She took to Twitter and has called on ‘high-profile’ black women to stand up and speak out against the ridiculousness of the show.
In the past, Jones voiced her opinion about the horrid portrayal of black women the show promotes, from potty mouths and gold digging to fighting and scratching loud mouthed black women.
“It may be ‘comfortable’ to be quiet when women of color slap the crap out of each other & run across tables barefoot, but #ENOUGHisENOUGH,” wrote Star, who is apparently tired of talking about the issue and ready to do something about it. “About to put together a group of sisters to finally ‘tell the truth’ about the image of women of color in the media,” wrote Star, who had just had a pow wow with Black Girls Rock! creator, Beverly Bond.
Jones was particularly outraged and had enough of the mindless aggression after Jennifer Williams was slapped in the face and criticized for taking the issue to court.
“And the thought that the woman from #BBW who was smacked doesn’t have the RIGHT to file assault charges is LUDICROUS! You NEVER give up your right not to have your ‘person’ intentionally assaulted unless you are participating in an agreed physical activity,” wrote Jones.
Star said her motivation for blasting “Basketball Wives” wasn’t to put anybody out of work. She just thinks young black girls need better examples.
“…little black girls deserve more than what we’re giving! It sickens me @lov3lylina85 when young sis think that behavior is acceptable. U can’t get a REAL JOB acting like an animal,” said Star.
Meanwhile, Star’s pal, Sherri Shepherd has already spoken out against the show several times, and Star wants more women to take a stand.
“I’m asking all my high profile, platform having conscientious sisters who STAND FOR SOMETHING to just say #ENOUGHisENOUGH & call folk out! Be mad. But think about what I said. WE ARE BETTER than that. You’re either part of the problem or part of the solution.”

AMEN I like those girls not ladies but girl need to be off the air it is not acceptable behaivor.
I agree with Gayle K. Anyone who thinks it is OK to be hit by man or woman is wrong, not OK. So what if you are mad, you have no right to put your hand on another person at the workplace or at home. Also we need high profile women to protest but we also need the everyday working woman or stay at home mom to pass the message also and to show examples of how black women should condust themselves as we were born princesses and queens. We should act accordingly and demand respect from our mates, families and the public. This portrayal of how black women are because society puts all of us in one basket, is not good and it is up to us to break this curse. We are looked at as being angry, aggressive, and intimidating. We are the only ones who can turn this thing around. For some reason I thought these woman had more class than what is being portrayed. I quess it does not matter your financial status. You can take the woman out the hood, but not the hood out the woman. We MUST do better ladies!!!!
There are plenty of women living in the hood that don’t act like that. Where is the petition, where can I sign?
I agree. Someone posted on here that Jen should be ok with being hit. Any woman that is ok with being popped clearly has been hit with a fist by a man and needs help, quickly. What type of person condones violence.
Finally, the “real” African American women are finding their voice. In the days, since viewers watched cast member Evelyn Lozada attack Kenya Bell, and subsequently Jennifer Williams, African American women from all walks of life are starting petitions, responding to blogs and tweeting, “Enough is Enough” across the world wide web. Support the cause to get VH1 to get the Basketvall Wives franchise canceled. We are better, we deserve better. http://www.change.org/petitions/cancel-basketball-wives
Shut em down, Star! Shut their azzes down! I’ve never watched the show outside of that one time Evelyn told some other sister (don’t know her name) on there she wasn’t a factor when she sleep with her husband. I don’t know about anyone else, but I make sure my pacemaker was working because I think my heart stopped (just joking). How freaking evil and heartless is that? Then only to see that Evelyn chick jump on top of a table trying to get to the other sister like a rabid dog foaming at the mouth (smh). I don’t get it… I don’t get how ANY woman (more specifically black women) can watch that toxic crap and NOT be bothered. I am most CERTAIN that with the airing of each episode it kills an unspecified amount brain cells in viewer; the same can be said about RHOA and all the reality TV franchises. It’s beyond disgusting now! I’ve already signed one petition and I’m willing to sign another until every finger on my hand cramps up from typing. It’s time to put an end to this sickness so that we can focus on other important issues!
That Sista Jones, I too have been sick of it for a long time and can’t stand the thought of how we are showing our youth that this kind of foolishness is condoned, cheered on and laugh it. In this age of the bully Basket Ball Wives (no one is married) is not only full of bullies but it exploits the females on that show as well, Get paid Jennifer. I was too upset to see that one of my favorite magazines Sister2Sister gave Tammi Roman an advice column, who could this out of control woman possible advise. I writing the editor Jamie next.
Thank you Star Jones
Nothing about this will change until black women decide to change it.
Until then, look forward to more buffoonery
Wish Starr could get some of those other strong black women like Debra Lee, Shaunie O’Neil, and Cathy Hughes on-board with this outrage.
Shaunie is executive producer of Basketball Wives. I put her in the same category as the girls on the show, because she has the power to make changes and she’s not doing that.
I cosign with Star and the posters on the board and I also agree with herbs too, as long as the ratings are huge and people continue to watch this mess then the show will be on the air. Collectively we as a audience have to stop watching all of those show from BBW wives/gf/bimbos to the Housewives etc then maybe they will go off the air. Also Shaunie has to have a conscience to stop producing both BBW and BBW-LA but she hints at not liking the violence but yet she sits back and watches as it happens and collects a big fat check at the end of the day.
just looked at this slappage on utube, fucn shame. sue that heffer. i was joking on my earlier post but to this bytch slap, i say sue that dayum fat faced hood rat jen for throwing blows. over
oh shani had any balls she would shut the show down herself. speaks volumes to her character.
Yes, enough is enough!
I absolutely agree. I’m so sick of these types of shows in the 1st place, but this show in particular really pisses me off. A bunch of never done nothing to deserve shit women/groupies/gold diggers/hoes on tv dressed nice, in nice locations, but just as ignorant and ghetto as they can be!! Shaunie O’neal should be put on blast first, because she started this bullshit! I don’t see why anyone could think that this is a good look or a good idea!!
I just want to say that women of color have elevated in so many ways in todays world and have come to far in their careers, compared to when it was hard for a woman of color to even set foot any type of broadcasting set. We cant let people feel this type of behavior is all we have to offer. Also personally if I was Jen I would’nt want to have a friend in my corner with that type of attitude. I w…onder how does her daughter feel about all of this. I’m quite sure she’s embarrassed. She just needs to give it up and stop embarrassing herself, family, and others that love her as well. Tell you the truth I dont hate anyone but, I disliked her from the beginning. I just knew she would in the words of Jamie Foxx trouble, touble, trouble. She should stick with book writing and scoping out rich celebrity men. Baby and Slim watch out she’s a man eater ! Ocho, this is what you get when you are desperate for beauty. Evelyn take a break and revamp your life pattern cause right its going downhill. Be blessed even in your mess, cause you have to come out of it and stop trying to impress the rest, who truly could care less. If you ask me none of them are true friends. You caused Shaunie a great deal of embarrassment and she just likes you cause you’re cute. Tami is just accepting you cause she is trying to change her ways, which is much need also. I dont like pointing fingures, but this needs to stop. And they say women from the south are ghetto. We have class, style, etiquette, and proper manners. Beauty isnt everything people.
Does anyone seriously think the shit these losers do on this show is real? Pulease…this shit is scripted and since everyone feeds off of drama like its Thanksgiving dinner and will always tune in for more to see who kicked who’s ass or who’s a true friend. What normal person will take any of what these jump offs do on TV serious? This just goes to show what has become of a society of people that convince themselves that reality TV is real. People that want to boycott the show, get rid of this groupie whore and that groupie whore…WTF cares about what these has been bed winches do…Jennifer should be embarassed because a 2 year old could figure out she married gruesome looking guy for $$$…nothing more, nothing less. Like people are REALLY going to believe that Evelyn and Chad WTF he calls himself are in love, looking forward to getting married YEAH RIGHT. Its always the one who creates the most drama that gets their own reality show…case and point, I Love NY…like who would really sell their soul to lay down with Flava Flav??? That’s like wrapping yourself in a blanket filled with TB…these shows should not be taken seriously…they’re doing what they’re supposed too, provide MINDLESS ENTERTAINMENT!
If Basketball Wives and other reality shows are so fake
containing negative images, catfights, encouraging poor
behavior / ignorance, and promoting stereotypes of people
of color then why do certain viewers expand their time
watching these kinds of shows? Why feel the need to argue
with each other in this this forum about cast member(s) and
character that they play or act for money? Since the majority
of these shows are edited to fit the producer & other’s agenda.
This always tends to lead to exaggerations, paints particular
cast members inaccurate, and in a non-flattering light.
Bless you, Star Jones, for stepping up big! Shaunie has the “I got mine” mentality and thinks nothing of the damage she is inflicting on one demographic.
