*There’s been some changes in the old school group The Dramatics.
For one, L. J. Reynolds is no longer the man in charge as either the group’s lead singer or its business manager as he described his duties when we profiled him back in September of 2011. The group is now called The Dramatics featuring Willie Ford
Secondly, the group is now under the control of the “Estate of Ron Banks” which is run by the widow of the late Ron Banks, Sandra Banks. Mr. Banks, the group’s famed falsetto/co-lead singer and original member, died in 2010 from a heart attack.

This is a shame! The Dramatics will not be the same, and I would never buy a ticket to see this current group. I respect Willie Ford, but all he has ever done is background, so how can he be featured? From a marketing perspective Ron Banks, LJ, and len Mayes is who fans think of when they hear the name “Dramatics”. Death and money cause people to do strange things. I could be wrong, but I don’t think Ron Banks, or Len Mayes would have supported this change. There must be a lot of conflict concerning this entire matter for LJ to be out. I think he should get his own group and continue. These guys have the Dramatics name, but thats all they have.
I wish them the best, they’ve changed before. Besides, Willie is a nice guy.

The Dramatics was a very popular R & B group of the past. Since the 70s there has been changes. They shouldn’t stop performing just because Lj Reynolds is out, or Ron Bank being deceased.
Won’t work. nice or not. I agree they shouldn’t stop working, but it is what it is. People
will support what they are familar with.especially old school acts…I know Ron can’t help being
deceased..but the dramatics without LJ Reynolds (and he’s a live)..agree with bafri3871 from
a marketing perspective.. Ron Banks..Len Mayes & LJ Reynolds is who you think of when
u hear the name Dramatics.. LJ move on with another group…He’s the voice the world
know along with that name Dramatics…Sweet or not..Willie was a background singer..not known
as the lead-singer…good luck but I don’t think that will work.!!!…Lawd!! if our old school acts are
not passing away…they are dying out (personel changing so nobody cares)>
That’s YOUR opinion JustConcern. It’s already working. LJ’s group is killing ‘em, and so is Willie’s group. Both groups sound great! Until you see them perform, why not hold your tiny opinion. Peace!
Y’all don’t know what y’all talkin’ bout. I saw The Dramatics perform last month and LJ Reynolds was the lead singer. They were very HIGH ENERGY and they did an EXCELLENT JOB!
Willie ford is on drugs bad and nobody in that new group will ever sing better then lj Reynolds the best in the city still living good luck but it won’t work without Lj Reynolds .
Yo richboy! It’s not a matter of anybody sounding better than LJ. It’s about delivering that world famous Dramatics sound every time they hit the stage! Were you there with Willie Ford while he was so-called doing drugs? I doubt it. That’s just a mean & nasty comment for NO REASON! Willie left the group because they couldn’t get along anymore. LJ is still performing with Winzell and two new members, and STILL sounding good. Willie hired Michael Brock who took Lenny’s place AND sang Ron Banks high tenor parts when Ron couldn’t. Also Steve Boyd who once sang lead with the Dramatics when Squirrel left, and he also sang with George Clinton for many years. This group sounds good too! If you can’t say anything nice, PLEASE don’t say anything at all!

I wish these guys all the sucess in the world but the Dramatics without LJ Reynolds I don’t think so.Ron Banks and LJ Reynolds were the Dramatics. I’m old school so I would still probably buy a ticket to see them.
