De’aundre Bonds *Actor De’aundre Bonds is living proof a man can be redeemed.

He started his career on the right foot, capturing audiences in classics like “Get on the Bus,” “Tales From the Hood,” and “The Wood.”

In his youth, he hungered for success, dodging the temptations of the ‘hood and avoiding the destructive path his parents took. He was on his way to stardom, on the verge of a major transition.

He was set to star alongside Denzel Washington in fan favorite, “Antwone Fisher,” when a most unfortunate chain of events shut his career down and led to his imprisonment.

For ten years, the actor was behind bars for manslaughter and was finally released in March 2011. But it was as if he never lost his touch.

Work was waiting for him.

He’s set to star alongside Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Nick Nolte and Anthony Mackie in upcoming police drama “Gangstar.”

Although life took an incredible turn and set his plans on hold, Bonds is back on track and has something like a testimony.

In an interview with Black Enterprise, the actor takes readers on a journey through his experiences that led to his lock up and back to the industry.
