*Nobody’s ever lost by betting on Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Saturday was no exception.
He used his speed and accuracy to win a unanimous decision over a game Miguel Cotto in one of his toughest fights ever.
Mayweather dominated late, rocking Cotto in the 12th round to pull out a win and remain unbeaten in 43 fights. But it wasn’t easy, with Mayweather getting his nose bloodied and Cotto fighting until the final bell.
Two judges scored the fight 117-111 and the third had it 118-110. The Associated Press had Mayweather winning 116-112.
“You’re a hell of a champion,” Mayweather told Cotto in the ring afterward. “You’re the toughest guy I ever fought.”
Fighting just a few weeks before he enters a county jail to serve a three-month sentence for domestic abuse, Mayweather found himself in a tough fight against a game opponent who never stopped moving forward. But he was faster and more accurate than Cotto and seemed to wear him down in the final rounds.
Why is the fact that he is going to jail relevant to this story? Congratulations is all that’s necessary, period!
Actually it adds to the story line. A sweet victory with a sad ending. It’s not racial.

I’ve been listening ESPN news all morning with the same refrain being repeated.
They lead of the story with “In about three weeks, Floyd Mayweather will be heading to jail …”
I mean, I appreciate that bit of info, because after hearing about the fight recently, I was like, is he still going to jail. But that was not the headline last night. So why does it have to be the highlight. At least EUR left it for later.

When Pernell Whitaker beat the shit out of that Mexican Julio Cesar Chavez, they call it a draw. Then he did the same to Oscar Dela Hoya and they gave it to Mexican. The same shit happened to Pernel against another Mexican, José Luis Ramírez.
The only reason why they judged this fight fairly, is because Floyd was fighting a mixed Puerto Rican.
History shows that despite his dominance, the black man is still a second class citizen in the world of boxing. Not even above fucking Mexicans in the pecking order.
