Pooch Hall and Tia Mowry also known as The Game's Derwin and Melanie Barnett-Davis, will not be returning next season.

*Those of us who like The Game may be in for an upset when the new season starts.

The new season will focus on more losses from the cast. The first loss from the team was Kelly Pitts (played by Brittney ), with her divorce from Jason Pitts (played by Coby Bell) which left many wondering why… the same will apply with the new cuts from the team.

Online reports say that BET didn’t come up with the checks for two of the shows central characters, Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall who play Melanie Barnett-Davis and Derwin Davis.

Media outlet, Diggin in the Crates, placed a tweet from Tia that says she’s out in their report: (click here)

The show is a far cry from it’s hey day anyway. The story lines are all over the place and the dialog is very weak. It’s a far cry from the Kelsey Grammer days.

The storylines this season were not good. I never watched this show when it was on the CW but only became a fan when I saw the reruns of it on BET about 2 years ago. and hten BET picked it up from cancellation and IMO BET ahs ruined it. I am sorry Tia and Pooch are leaving I liked their characters I doubt if I will watch next season.

I have NEVER seen this show. NOT ONE EPISODE. Do you guys recommend it?

So…..WTF is the “support”!?? I think if “The People” got this show back on the air?, then “The People” can KEEP these people on and…SHOULD!!! With ALL the money this show has made for this “bootleg” network!?, WTF just “let those who did the work” just get….cut, with NO “outcry”!!?? After all….these are BLACK actors, who need a gig like anyone else, & should KEEP their gigs, when they are a CENTRAL part of a show, & they are not out thurr…fkn up in their personal lives/reflecting negatively on the show! So again……on the ONLY “Black” network & ‘it” only having TWO fkn “original shows”?…WTH “give up” ‘on the shows OR…it’s principal actors!!?? Seems to me another “petition” needs to be circulated, for new fkn…”writers”, NOT just “axe” the ones who helped….make it what it was & should be!!! Why are mofos so….”fair weathered”/conditional? We should treat/support ALL of “Us” just like We did Obie in…2008! (juuuuusta fkn thought, yoe, juuuuuusta fkn thought!!) SMDH!

Just getting into the door is not enough. Being responsible is part of the job. I understand supporting our own but charity doesn’t pay the bills. Criticism does not equal lack of support.

      • Taurusingr says:

Right right! But mayn!?…..all I see heeah?, is the “criticism”/”ole well/too late, neh” attitude. Yeah being responsible IS part of “their” jobs!, and/BUT!??, part of “Our’s” as.viewers/consumers shouuuuuuld be to hold “ALL” responsible parties, ….responsible! And peeps heeah?, seem to be holding the “actors” responsible for their….”liiiiiiiiiines/storylines”. Now….HTF is DAT shyt fair OR accurate!?? And as MOST Black shows “don’t” have many/ANY Black “writers”!?, I ask again….WTH should the Black “actors” get the axe, & none of the rest of the components be held responsible or get…..fired!?? With only TWO half way decent show ‘ON Tv?, why not make the producers OF the shows “step their game up” & not simply cast aside the ….”builders of the building” like DEH azzes are…..responsible?!! I say again!!, “We” are THE largest consumer group breathing!!!!! So….why not “flex that leverage” to get WTF “We” want! Also…..simply allowing the few to die?, is a HELLA suicide mission! Look how loooooong it took to GET a damn show, luuuuuz it and get it back! Y’all think they g’on give Us ANYthang else or better, if “We” don’t …..”order dat shyt”!!!??? Umm…..NOPE! This whole fkn place, g’on be the fkn UPN/nigguh night BS!!, if We stay as UNsupportive, self destructive and…..complacent! Is all the fk “I’m” sayin!! Hollah!

      • Taurusingr says:

Ps….and BTW? That ain’t “charity”, that’s just plain ole intelligent, progressive thinking, while watching “Our” people’s backs and hold the “truly” guilty…..responsible. (can you feel meh?, I think that you can!) Bow and Wow!

  6. Test, not at all. The story line is all over the place and the same old, same old…this is short for they’re probably going to cancel the whole show which they should.

    • TesticAl says:

Thanks Stephanie. I guess I really didn’t miss anything.

      • Test, I would recommend the first 3 seasons…that’s when it was on CW and Kelsey Grammer produced. The difference between seasons 1-3 and 4-5 are like night and day. BET totally RUINED a good show…

  7. I’ve been watching the show from it’s beginnings on the CW and although the storylines are rather tedious, I have to say at least they were different. This season we learned about some of Tasha’s background and her family dynamic, and they delved more into Jason’s personality. I was never a fan of Melanie or Derwin, they seemed like spoiled brats to me. Maybe now the writers can breathe new life into the series, hire some good black actors/actresses who deserve a break and take the show to a new level.

  8. Diva007 says:

They should just cancel the show. It’s been downhill since BET snatched it up.

  9. I’ll miss their characters. I think BET has watered down the show since picking it up. I don’t see it lasting too much longer. I was so ecstatic when BET picked it up and just knew it was gonna take the show to the next level. I’ve been disappointed with this season. It’s a shame because we need all the black shows we can get on TV.

Agreeded-This season has been a HUGE disappointment and the show needs a MAJOR overhaul. I didn’t think it was coming back after the dismal showing this season but if it does then please guys make some major changes to the storyline.

  12. redbone1954 says:

The show was not what I expected this season after watching it on the CW. I just ran across the show by accidnet and then I watched all the reruns before it moved to BET. I am not sure what happened but the story got sort of stupid Tasha having a bay for Melody and Derwin????? Isn’t she supposed to be about 40 it made no sense then the relationship with Jason and Brandy(blake stare) Don’t get me wrong I am glad that a person of color is working but that white girl who was his wife was crazy! And the Tasha leaving the agency( I guess that’s what happened ) the conflict between her and the guy that ran the agency was really funny. I don’t know what happend but the whole thing with Malik was tired and not funny and then all that canned laughter seems fake and phoney. I’ll see what they come up with next season but I’m onlu gonna give it a couple of show and if it ain’t no better I’m gone Sorry!

  13. Oh well…that gives me an out for not watching next season. I really tried to hang in there because I try to give OUR shows a chance. But I think it’s downright shameful when writers and producers relent to “dumbing down” african-american characters. On seasons 1-3, we saw Melanie getting through medical school and finally become a doctor. Then the show goes to BET, and NOW she’s just a football wife with nothing to do all day but think of stupid-azz events for the “Sunbeams”! REALLY??? They took an intelligent, educated woman and turned her into something you see on today’s reality shows….where are the positive role models for our young black people? You think they woulda learned from what happened with “Good Times”…damn, damn, DAMN!!
