The creator of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice” has had her 3rd series, “Scandal’” starring Kerry Washington renewed for a second season by ABC.

“Am super proud to say that @ScandalABC has been picked up for a 2nd season!! Am doing a little dance of joy. Still waiting to hear on PP…,” Rhimes tweeted.
The primetime political soap, which centers on professional crisis “fixer” Olivia Pope (Washington), who has a special relationship with the President of the United States, garnered 6.5 million viewers and a 2.0 rating in the demo in its most recent episode.

Scandal finishes its seven-episode first season Thursday, May 17.
ABC also renewed “Happy Endings,” “Revenge,” “Castle,” “Modern Family,” “Once Upon a Time,” “The Middle” and Rhimes’ “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice.”

Surprisingly, this show has been very good. it has a good supporting cast, and good story lines. Kerry Washington good not have held up this show on her own. As long as Shonda continues to keep the writing at its current level this show will be successful. Kudos to Shonda for her music pics on the show, serious ole-school music.
Rimes now has 3 shows on ABC and all I hear are positive reviews about Scandal. She’s really on to something!
