*While Justin Combs and daddy Diddy were busy celebrating the teen’s graduation, some were bubbling over with anger and frustration since he accepted a full football scholarship to UCLA.
Critics are outraged that young Combs, who is the son of one of the wealthiest celebrities in the nation, has accepted the $54,000 merit-based scholarship award because it could be taking away from other students who actually need it.
Well, just to make sure the haters are set straight, UCLA responded saying:
“There’s a misconception out there that somehow athletic scholarships would take away money from low-income students who need need-based aid,” school spokesman Ricardo Vazquez said. “That’s not the case. Athletic scholarships are awarded strictly on the basis of athletic and academic ability.”
The bottom line is Justin is no dummy. He graduated with a 3.7 GPA from a top private school and has various several football awards and was recruited by several universities other than UCLA which he chose.
