Floyd MayweatherJr.*They don’t call him “Money” for nothing.

Yes, even in prison, champion boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is making headlines as a premiere athlete.

This time, he made the list of the world’s highest paid athletes over the past year.

Although he only fought twice in the last 12-month period, his combined payday was $85 million. That brought him to the No. 1 spot among 100, kicking Tiger Woods who’s been dominating since 2001.

This time around the pro golfer made it at No. 3 with $59.4 million.

Mayweather just does really good business. He maximized earnings by becoming his own fight promoter, collecting ticket revenue, pay-per-view and sponsorships and covers the cost including the purse for his own opponent.

Along with his great business sense, he’s a charming fighter who wins the hearts of at home moms and families as he was a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2007 and sports fans with his racially charged rants against his opponents.

Since Woods’ epic fail with the sexual scandal and declined golf wins, he’s lost quite a few sponsorships and lost the respect and followship of fans. But this year he might be on a come back.
