*Matthew McConaughey is back as your favorite hustling bear – Buster Moon!
This week, catch him in the jukebox musical comedy “Sing 2” as the optimistic koala who owns the Moon theater. We spoke to McConaughey about the sequel, music icons and family aspirations.
Q: Bono voices Clay Callaway a highly sort after rock star legend…who would be your real life Clay?
MM: Bob Dylan, he’s the original rapper. Maybe you could say Shakespeare was the original rapper. Bob’s a storyteller, he had the pulse of the state of the nation, the world and humanity.Plus, he was a great bullshi****. He was a trickster that way and quite entertaining. He makes me laugh!
Q: Which musical performances do you think Mister Moon secretly watches on repeat?
MM: He was so happy to get Rosita out there to do her thing…it was hard and she didn’t want to do it because she was afraid of heights. But she did save his life and caught him while he was falling. I don’t know if he wants to watch that on repeat…it might scare him.
Q: What dreams are you manifesting next?
MM: What’s the best way to tell the stories I want to tell and to tell my own stories. To live out my own stories and not just tell them through performance or on a page but actively living them. I’ve got three little epics – my kids – that I’m “directing” as a father. One dream of mine would be that in 30 years if you ask them, ‘tell me who your five best friends are?’ And each one of them would have me as one of their five best friends. I don’t need to be their best friends yet! I don’t need to be chummy with them now but later!
