The artist, signed to Trill Ent. with labelmates Webbie, Lil Boosie and Lil Trill, was shot at around 6:40 p.m. Thursday in the parking deck of  Northside Hospital Women’s Center, in the 1001 block of Johnson Ferry Road. Phat was shot multiple times in his car.

Witnesses told police that they saw two black males running away from the scene. Police spokesman Capt. Steve Rose said they were looking for one short man, who was wearing a red t-shirt and another taller man dressed all in black.

Lil’ Phat was taken into the hospital after he was pronounced dead at the scene. It is currently unknown whether or not the incident was captured on the hospital’s surveillance cameras.

The hospital was placed under lockdown and one of the visitors there at the time told police “We arrived around 6:30 p.m. to visit my brother and sister-in-law – my wife’s family had a baby today at Northside Women’s Center – and as we arrived, there was a disturbance in the parking lot. As we entered the hospital, we were escorted to an empty patient room with other visitors. Another family said that as they were beginning to leave, they heard shots and were hurried back into the hospital.”
