Really, Lil Wayne? You Respect Women?!

lil wayne*A few weeks ago, Hot 97 and Young Money got into a war over rapper Nicki Minaj pulling out of a Summerjam concert.

One of the Hot 97 personalities said something about Minaj’s record and it made the rapper pull out of the concert.

A few weeks later, Wayne is now talking about the incident and saying he pulled Nicki out because he wants women to be respected and he felt she was being disrespected.

Here’s an excerpt from an article on Essence where the writer says: “Really Wayne? Respect women? You?”

Earlier this month, you might have heard that rapper Nicki Minaj pulled out of a concert — a massive, annual summer music showcase that is kind of a big deal. The short version of the events: a deejay for the stations hosting the festival clowned Nicki’s single “Starships” as not being real hip-hop. Nicki took offense, and Lil’ Wayne, the head of her record label, pulled all Cash Money artists from the concert lineup. People were ticked, especially the management and deejays at the radio station, and Wayne left Nicki to handle the fall out alone by not publicly commenting on this fiasco — until Monday in an interview with MTV News.

His explanation for his decision blew my mind — and you know that’s hard to do.

“I don’t know what anyone else believes, but I believe females deserve the ultimate respect at all times no matter, when or where or how,” Wayne said in the interview. “I feel like a woman’s supposed to be respected at all times, therefore I believe I made the right decision.”

  1. That’s interesting. Is it a changed man, one who has with age has matured and seen the light? Because I recall an interview he gave back after he blew up with “Tha Block is Hot” in which the interviewer asked him about his rumored womanizing ways. Lil Wayne’s answer? “I don’t give a f*ck, ’cause if one ho don’t like it, it’always plenty mo’ hoes to f*ck.” That one comment alone turned me off to him and his music. It was so ignorant and so vulgar, and I am a man. His ex-wife voiced has voiced the pain he put her through with his disrespect of her, and overall he has not presented himself as someone who has respect for anything except for the most demeaning of stereotypes and “hood” mentality. So if he has changed, good for him. But just from recent headlines alone, it seems he has a long way to go toward respectability in my eyes.

I think the question should be?, do women respect “themselves”!! Like….with the exception of Toya?, NONE of his baby’s mamas would be/git with dude, if he was not “paid”! And NO one makes these females do WTF they DECIDE to do in being in these damn videos OR dating/getting knocked up BY these nigs, they KNOW they DON’T “know”! All they DO “know” & scare about eeaah getting the man’s…..MONEY!! And then?, “complain” when someone refers to them “as” the …..whores they are! So….WTF are peeps gonna hold the adult FEmales responsible for WTF happens to be “THEIR” decisions & actions!!?? The gender. Ias only continues the fk up cycle & delays the “help” these females need! Also….in every other scenario?, we “appropriately” blame the “actor OF the act” so….WTF should it be ANY difference, when a FEme is the….actor/decider!?? FOH!

  3. He was probably high off cough syrup when he made that statement…I just cannot get into his rap…
