*Mary J. Blige has promised to fix any “outstanding issues” with her troubled charity foundation and has settled an overdue college bill for a student who was granted a scholarship by the organization.
As previously reported, the Mary J. Blige’s Foundation for the Achievement of Women Now (FFAWN), launched in partnership with industry exec Steve Stoute, came under scrutiny last month following reported discrepancies in its accounting.
A group of students from the Women’s Academy of Excellence in the Bronx spoke out and revealed they faced having to drop out of college because FFAWN executives failed to honor their promise to cover their expenses.
Gennevive Sarfoah, a nursing student at the State University of New York at Canton, told the New York Post that charity reps were late paying her $5,392 tuition fees in 2011 and alleged they had not handed over any money for this year.
Sarfoah’s outstanding college bills have since been covered, although she is still waiting to receive a check to cover next year’s tuition.
