Beanstalk says in an announcement tied to Licensing Expo 2012, currently going on in Las Vegas, that it intends to “leverage NeNe’s position in pop culture to offer consumers fashion-forward, affordable apparel and accessories, designed to empower women to walk into a room and ‘own it’ — like NeNe herself.”

NeNe will reportedly be the highest-paid performer on the upcoming fifth season of Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta” (a reported $1 million salary for the season); she has a recurring role on Fox’s “Glee” as Coach Roz Washington and a role in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming NBC sitcom “The New Normal”; she is an author and TV magazine correspondent; and she was a contestant on NBC’s “The Celebrity Apprentice.”

All of this factored into Beanstalk’s decision to get in the NeNe business.

“While the fame of reality television characters is often short-lived and fleeting,” said Michael Stone, Beanstalk’s president and CEO, “NeNe Leakes has displayed versatility that has enabled her to transition from being a ‘Real Housewives’ personality to a featured television star on ‘Glee.’ NeNe’s mult-faceted personality and aspirational style will translate well into products that will emotionally connect with her fans.”

Leakes, the mother of two sons, has also written the book “Never Make the Same Mistake Twice.” Additionally, she founded the charity Twisted Hearts, which works to bring awareness to the problem of domestic violence.

The reunion episode during the fourth season of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” season received the highest ratings in the show’s history.

Nene you are not a fashionista IMO so I do not understand WHY?? you are staarting a fashion line usually celebs who have a line dress really well and they look good in their clothes of which you do not.

  3. Even though I’m not a fan of how NeNe has transformed on the RHOA (holier and better than thou), I still say good for her. Her line will probably geared to taller/bigger woman.

Even more evidence that if you don’t mind being the living example of stereotypical buffoonish black images (in this case the overbearing and scrupless black woman), you too can be the next monkey put on display for the world’s entertainment and pure wonderment of just how morally and illogically fucked black people can be… You say she had transformed…I say she has simply been transplanted from one side show to another as a featured attraction…
