Allyson Felix and Jeneba Tarmoh tie for third place in Oregon's 100 meter for the Olympic spot.

*The Olympics are upon us and athletes all over the country are competing for the spot in the London games.

But two women have made their run for the top spots, but are caught in a tie that even officials are baffled as to how it should be broken.

Famous track coach and husband of racing phenom Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Bobby Kersee, is in the middle of breaking a tie between two women he trains and have prepared for the Olympics. Allyson Felix and Jeneba Tarmoh tied in the 100-meter in Oregon for third place.

I watched this race yesterday and I could not tell who won it is a dead heat. Both young ladies are good athletes and whichever one is selected will represent our country well in London.

  2. Word on the street is that there could be a conspiracy afoot. The whole purpose of electronic timing is to have an unambiguous way to determine who the winner is. That would make Tarmoh the winner, but I heard that the powers at be wants Felix to qualify because she is more recognizable and has more sponsors.

It would be unfortunate if Felix doesn’t qualify for the 100 though, since she skipped the 400 to run the 100 instead. She did it since it would be easier to recuperate for the 200. But it’s a shame that the schedule doesn’t allow athletes to seriously compete in all three events. Back in the days, you would never see a 100 or 200 meter runner going over longer distances, but nowadays, athletes are good enough to excel in all three events. Usain Bolt’s top two events were the 200 and 400 before they found out that he could be even better at the 100. Lots of folks may not know this, buy Tyson Gay is also a good 400 runner. I saw him clocked 44 sec before. Can you just imagine if he and Bolt trained to run the 400 competitively? With that speed they may go under 43 sec.

But there got to be a better way to pick athletes for the Olympics. Look at Bryan Clay. He’s the Olympic champion in the event but failed to qualify because of a temporary disqualification which affected his other events. The same shit happened to Dan O’brien, another decathlete, at a previous trial. And he was the favorite to get the gold. If you know the man is by far the best athlete, why you going to leave him off the team because he had a bad day?
