A leaked clip of the new “Summertime 3” features just over a minute of the track, with Smith rapping over a slowed-down sample of Kool & the Gang’s “Summer Madness.”

The remix is part of a new mixtape by DJ Jazzy Jeff and Mick Boogie, to be released on June 11. It is the first time the pair have recorded together since 1993.

Summertime 3? I don’t recall ever hearing Summertime 2! The lyrics to the first verse was identical to the original minus the name drop at the end. Anyway, Will Smith/Fresh Prince created THE BEST SUMMER RAP SONG/VIDEO EVER! Do not debate that because you can’t. LOL! Twenty one years later that song still hits harder than ever. That song is timeless and everyone can relate to it. RESPECT.

  2. Okay twenty something years later here comes the same song again “Summertime”, but this time it’s remix # 3. Utilize some creativity and come up with something new, different, and original by you. Will, please don’t be like Chubby Checker who having numerous ugly ass versions of “The Twist”. Sheesh!

I co-sign. The man really needs to just stick with making movies. That’s the direction he decided to go in at the beginning, and he was very successful. He sounds like he either (a) just got out of bed, or (b) is on something.

Sidebar: I heard Jada tell Tom Joyner yesterday that she had NO IDEA there was going to be a “Summertime 3.” (I’ll bet he’s doing it as a reluctant favor for DJ Jazzy Jeff.)

JMHO, but NOBODY should be sampling Kool & The Gang’s “Summer Madness” either.
