Comedy Central Greenlights Chris Rock-Produced ‘D-Raw’

*Comedy Central has given a pilot order to the sketch comedy series “D-Raw,” executive produced by Chris Rock and starring young comedian Deshawn Raw.

According to Deadline, Raw describes himself as, “Just a new comedian trying to make it out the hood with the team. So we don’t end up statistics.”

The show is features sketches starring Deshawn and his diverse group of friends based on their personal experiences as they make fun of themselves and their lives in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. The sketches include rap battles and the guys’ take on all things pop culture.

DeShawn Raw became a YouTube sensation with his Rap Battle videos (See below). The first one drew 13.5 million viewers. Rap Battle Pt. 4 featuring Chris Rock (second video), has amassed 2.9 million.

In addition to D-Raw, Rock also executive produces FX’s upcoming weekly late-night series “Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell,” premiering on Aug. 9.
