Jennifer Hudson Recruited by NBC for ‘Smash’ Role

jennifer hudson*Jennifer Hudson is again getting her acting and singing on.

The singer just landed a gig with NBC’s “Smash” musical series as “Veronica Moore.”

An award winning Broadway star, Moore influences Karen, played by Hudson’s fellow “American Idol” contestant Katharine McPhee, and Ivy, played by Megan Hilty.

“This series is a showcase for some of the best musical talent in the business and that’s a fitting description for Jennifer Hudson,” said Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment. “Her character will represent someone who reached their Broadway dream but also paid a price for it.”

Hudson’s role will be recurring for the next season in 2013.

I”m up in the air. I think the role would be good for her because she needs good acting roles. Three Stooges? Really? I do miss her fuller face and she can sing well, so I’m not going to say she lacks talent. I think she’s doing well and was really hoping that her Oscar win for Dreamgirls would not be the last we see of her.
