*”Soul Man” star Niecy Nash will head from cable to network television this fall with a guest appearance on Fox’s breakout hit “The New Girl.”

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that an early episode in the sophomore run features Jess (Zooey Deschanel) getting her purse snatched, with the assailant being a prostitute played by Nash.
Also heading to “New Girl” next season is David Walton, who has landed a recurring role on the series. He follows in the footsteps of Justin Long and Dermot Mulroney as the third actor to get a multi-episode spot as a love interest for Jess, first appearing in the second of the two Sept. 25 premiere episodes.
A hooker? I’m not impressed. In the least. This isn’t a dramatic role, it’s the black hooker with a heart of gold played up for comedic content.
