Hemsley had no wife and no kids.

aww man, I’m so sorry. God bless brother . . . . . That Sherm’ was gay, did not diminish him as an accomplished actor. R.I.P. Mr.Helmsley.
The great Sherman Hemsley,George Jefferson, him getting on, as he called them whitey was classic, especially in those days especially the one he called Bunker,he was so funny, that dance, when he was about to fight, him and Weezy RIP He was da man.
Sherman “George Jefferson” Hemsley, thanks man for the laughs. Sherman was hilarious, this man was a character and I’m sorry to hear about his passing. RIP Sherman and may you enjoy that pie in the sky.~
great actor. will be sorely missed.
I was surprised to hear of Sherman Hemsley passing. I still love “The Jefferson’s” and the character George Jefferson. When he did that dance called the “SLop” (My mom told me that’s what it was), I would lose it. That’s my “happy dance” and has been for several years now. When Sherman was on the “Surreal Life” years ago, I realized how great an actor he was because he was the complete opposite of George Jefferson. Sherman was very laid back and cool. He actually got in trouble for being too laid back and not participating in the “drama’ of the house. My mind went to the fact that all of the cast has passed now except for Marla Gibbs, Berlinda Tolbert and Damon Evans (the 2nd Lionel). Rest in Peace Sherman.
The one and only George Jefferson. Taking no ish from honkey.
Yeah, it was the best sitcom of all times.
Another part of my childhood gone, RIP Mr.Hemsley!
R.I.P. Sherman Hemsley!
