serena and venus williams*Guess who made ESPN’s Top 40 Female Athletes?

The hard-hitting Williams sisters. Nope, not exactly a surprise for most folks.

For the past 40 years, ESPN has celebrated female athletes and this year, “The Power of IX” initiative is being used to promote gender equality among college sports.

Venus made it at No. 21 for her 21 Grand Slam titles and 129 mph serve. She became the first black woman in the world to be ranked No. 1 in the Open era.

Serena came in at NO. 10 with 27 Grand Slam titles, more than any other active male or female player.

Together, the ladies have revolutionized tennis and changed the face of the world of sports. Both are very active in the community and serve on various campaigns and with different organizations.
