Venus and Serena Among Six Women Nominated for Olympics

   

venus and serena williams*The Williams sisters were among six other players to compete in the Olympics for both the singles and doubles tournaments.

U.S. women’s tennis coach Mary Joe Fernandez also nominated Christina McHale and Varvara Lepchenko to play singles, and the world’s number one-ranked doubles team of Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond, reports Reuters.

The ladies competed in 2000 and 2008, with Venus going undefeated in the doubles competition and went home with the gold in singles during the Sydney Olympics.

On the men’s team, Andy Roddick, John Isner, Ryan Harrison and Donald Young have been nominated along with Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan for doubles.
